To say the Click Team is excited to see The Hunger Games would be an understatement. We have a plan to gather in Pasadena, have some snacks and see the film together on opening day. But perhaps no one is more excited than our own Haley Lierman, who penned this ode in anticipation. Enjoy.

Hunger Games Poem

Time to pack up your arrows, and pick up your bow

Grab your mockingjay pin and your orange pack in tow

Say farewell to your friends, your loved ones, and kin

Because 7:30 this Friday the Games will begin.

You’ve been drawn from all districts of the City LA

And now the lottery’s made clear that it’s your turn to play.

You can’t run or hide, so paint on your flames

And get your bad ass to the Click Hunger Games.

You have only a minute to grab your pack

(And it’s no combo pack with a BD stack).

If you’re lucky you might get yourself away from the zoo

Before Mac the Career will dice you in two.

Find water, a weapon, and maybe some food–

If you can’t find all three, you probably are screwed.

Dinah’s got a bow, and it your turn to run

Because with that in her hands she’s already won.

Tyler, oh Tyler, let’s be honest, he’s dead

Julie took him out with knife to the head.

Kim’s now got a sword but there’s no time to discuss.

If we stick around she’ll go Zelda on us.

Emily and Tommy: we know they’re a team

Much like Thing 1 and Thing 2, we know they can scheme…

Jackie’s got explosive experience; I hear she’s the best

But Dre, she’ll sneak up on you while you’re taking a rest.

Game Maker Scott, he can’t be ignored

Because he’ll kill us all if the Capitol’s bored.

We’ll fight to the death!… After we eat some good food

In Pasadena on Friday, the games will conclude.

And I hope that survival is your favorite flavor

Because history proves the odds AREN’T ever in your favor.

Welcome to Click’s Trailer Park – Julie’s discussion of some of the most exciting trailers to hit the Interwebs. Here are a few that have her pumped for Fall 2011!

  • The Muppets: From The Muppets Take Manhattan to The Great Muppet Caper, the beloved Muppets found their way into my heart many moons ago. In fact, I still own a Muppet Babies stuffed animal set my Mom purchased for me back in 1988 from McDonald’s. Needless to say, I can’t wait to see Kermit and the gang back on the big screen!
  • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo: Although, I loved the original Swedish trilogy from tip to toe, I’m really looking forward to David Fincher’s US remake. I found Noomi Rapace’s performace as Lisbeth Salander in the original to be absolutely stellar! It’s my hope that Rooney Mara will deliver the same amount of “badass” to this film.
  • The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1: I can’t wait. There…I said it.
  • 13: This thriller is a remake of the French-language film 13 Tzameti. It’s a gamblin’ man’s game of Russian roulette starring Jason Statham and Mickey Rourke. Looking forward to it!
  • War Horse: This film had me at the title alone. As a lifelong lover of horses and war films, something tells me I better pack a tissue or two for this Steven Spielberg adventure.
  • Anonymous: This trailer’s got me wondering, “What’s in a name?”
  • The Mighty Macs: As a former hoops-playin’ gal raised in private schools, I’m anticipating this film, which appears to prove that girls can, in fact, play ball and still act like a lady.
  • Hugo: Martin Scorsese directing a family film? I’m intrigued!
  • Take Shelter: Looks like a storm’s a-brewin’…or is it?
  • The Ides of March: Clooney vs. Gosling = Caesar vs. Brutus? We shall see!

If you’ve seen a trailer that you’re excited about, please drop us a line in the comments and let us know!

With Warner Bros’ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 hitting theaters today, we finally get to see the end of the historic eight-film series. To celebrate the occasion, I asked the Click crew to recall their favorite things about Harry Potter. It could be a memory. It could be a moment. It could be from the movies, books, video games, amusement park, or anything else Potter related. It’s all up for grabs. So check out our Click Picks below and feel free to hit up the comments to tell us about your favorite thing about Harry Potter!

Mac

“My favorite thing about the Harry Potter movies is the spot-on casting. It’s been brilliant from the get-go and everyone who’s stepped into the roles has really captured the character from the books.

As far as favorite memories go, when Order of the Phoenix came out, we were moving to LA from Seattle and some good friends of ours gave us the audio book. That thing SAVED MY LIFE. It got me through the cleaning of our old place, the drive to LA and setting up the new apartment. I barely remember any of the activities themselves, just the book!”

Dinah

“Perhaps my favorite thing about the Harry Potter movies is the score. There’s a short list of movies that have a definitive musical theme — Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jaws, Gone with the Wind — and thanks to the genius of John Williams, Harry Potter is on that list. Those first two haunting bars transport us to the magical world of witchcraft and wizardry better than any port key.

One of my favorite memories of Harry Potter goes back to when Mac & I first started reading the books. In January 2000, I moved from Denver to Seattle so that Mac & I could be together. Shortly after that, we took ourselves up to Vancouver for a weekend of shopping & Canadian fun. We picked up the first two Harry Potter books in paperback (which is why we have a copy of the Philosopher’s Stone, not the Sorcerer’s Stone). I don’t remember who started reading them first, but once we started, we couldn’t stop. One of us would finish a book and the other would immediately grab it. After burning through the first two we ran back to the bookstore to grab the next two in hardback. We barely left our hotel room, and while saying that about a young, newly-minted couple on a weekend getaway would normally infer all kinds of things that are totally inappropriate for a company blog, Mac and I are nerds. We couldn’t put the books down, and have been huge Harry Potter fans ever since.”

Scott

“My favorite thing about Harry Potter is probably the gutsy move Warner Bros. made by allowing Alfonso Cuaron to direct Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Coming off what I personally felt was a lackluster effort (and my least favorite Potter film) in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, I had my doubts about the rest of the series. Cuaron, however, injected the series with a brand new sense darkness and maturity. It was a breath of fresh air and easily helps …Azkaban continue to be my favorite film of the series. Those Dementors are just so damn creepy!”

Jackie

“Who wouldn’t want to throw a dinner party in the Great Hall at Hogwarts Castle with those endlessly long tables piled with trays of tasty treats, walls that reach up to the ceiling that look like the sky above and floating candles in the air where the occasional ghost or owl post drops by? Whether it’s a quiet game of Wizard Chess or a Sorting Hat ceremony, the Great Hall is a truly magical destination.”

Dre

“I’m a big fan of secret passages and things hidden in plain sight. So, Diagon Alley and Platform 9 3/4 at King’s Cross Station are probably some of my favorite HP elements! It reminds of celeb magician David Copperfield’s 1986 televised stunt “Walk Through the Great Wall of China.” I was 7 when I saw that, and spent my hours, when no one was around, crashing into walls and doors with the hopes of ‘passing through.’ These HP passages make me feel like maybe I just haven’t found the right passages yet, or maybe I just need the magic words?”

Emily

“My favorite book, by a landslide was Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It was the first time I had ever wanted to reach into a book and cause physical harm to a character. Dolores Umbridge was so deliciously evil! Order of the Phoenix was also the first time in the series that I really started to see Harry behaving like a stroppy teenager. It brought such a new element to his growth as a character for me.”

Tyler

“I love the way Rowling has cleverly crafted the character of Harry Potter. By including the common things an adolescent teenager goes through over the seven year course of his teenage maturation Harry’s character, even though he’s a wizard, becomes instantly relatable. Dealing with the mean kid at school, concern for his friends, starting to like girls, mean teachers, homework; all the issues a young boy goes through creates a character and a series that the reader can’t help but relate to. As the character matures so do the obstacles he must overcome.”

Julie

“In the world of Harry Potter, Hogwarts will always be a favorite! I couldn’t imagine a better environment for academia! You get to live with your friends, play loads of Quidditch, and learn incredibly relevant information! It makes me wonder why I ever wasted so much time on Geometry and Algebra, when I could have been focusing my attention on truly useful subjects – like transfiguration, potions, and flying! Gryffindor for life!”

Click Hearts Pixar

With Pixar’s Cars 2 hitting theaters today, we here at Click thought it might be fun to do a quick post about our favorite Pixar movies. As of today’s release, Pixar has now released twelve theatrical films (and even more short films) and nearly every single one has been a massive financial and critical success so the choices we had to make were certainly not easy. Feel free to hit up the comments and tell us about your favorite Pixar film!

Mac

“Oh, man! Such a hard decision! Do I go with the superhero antics of The Incredibles? The epic beauty of Finding Nemo? Or the mad-cap originality of Monsters, Inc.? I’ll go with Monsters, Inc. So many great characters, Boo is ridiculously adorable and probably the best Ratzenberger cameo in all of the Pixar films.”

Dinah

“Since everyone else here has mentioned my favorite, Monsters, Inc., I’m going to go with a tie between the oceanic gorgeousness of Finding Nemo and super-fun superhumans in The Incredibles. They both have all the elements you expect from a great Pixar film: astounding animation, fun adventure, hilarious dialog brought to life with great voice talent, plus the clever, imaginative details that are both surprising and delightful. And, of course, more than anything else: HEART. Maybe it’s the New Mom thing, but both of these films tug at my heartstrings and make me excited to show them to my son someday.”

Scott

“Every single one is magical in its own way. From the highly underrated A Bug’s Life, Monsters, Inc., and Cars to the genius of the Toy Story trilogy, the action of The Incredibles, the quiet confidence of Ratatouille, and the otherworldy silence of WALL-E. They’re all special. My favorite though, comes down to a close race between Up and Finding Nemo with the fish taking it by a fin. Michael Giacchino’s score in the marriage montage of Up brings me to tears every single time, but it’s the ethereal beauty and never-say-die attitude of Finding Nemo that catapults it to the very top of my list.”

Jackie

Toy Story 3 was a solidly entertaining story on par with most live action films, but I also love the Pixar shorts which bring back the surprise and joy of what it felt like to watch Saturday morning cartoons. Presto has adventure, laughs and heart in under six minutes!”

Dre

Monsters, Inc. hands down. Boo & ‘Kitty’s’ relationship was so sweet and heartwarming, and the entire idea was just awesome – a town that runs on screams! Adorbs.”

Brigid

“So many good ones to choose from! Up and Finding Nemo are my favorites.”

Emily

Monsters, Inc. – I remember being floored by the incredible animation of the individual hairs and scales on the monsters.”

Tyler

“Its hard to beat Toy Story when it comes to my favorite Pixar movie. I remember all the hype around it being the first animated movie made entirely with CGI. Also, the hilarity and sophistication of the screenplay still stands up 16 years later!”

Julie

“Although Toy Story takes the cake for me in the world of Pixar, I feel inclined to also comment on my love for WALL-E. I remember being so immediately floored by the stunning visuals, that at times, I forgot I was even watching an animated film! I found WALL-E and EVE’s relationship to be absolutely charming, and the social commentary sprinkled throughout the film, hilarious!”

With Amblin Entertainment’s Super 8 hitting theaters this weekend, we here at Click thought it might be fun to do a quick post about our favorite 80′s Amblin movies. We all can’t wait to check out what’s being called a fantastic “throwback” to the days of old days of Amblin Enterainment films. Feel free to hit up the comments and tell us about your favorite Amblin film!

Mac

“So many good flicks! I would have to say Gremlins really sticks out for me because it was probably the first real monster movie I saw, having only seen a few stop-motion Harryhausen flicks before that. I think it was the gore in the kitchen and Stripe’s melted head that really made an impact. Been a fan of monsters ever since.”

Dinah

“Last year’s Back to the Future Blu-ray release just reminded me how very much I loved that movie. Though, The Goonies is an all-time favorite. Call it a tie. And of course my favorite television show from Amblin is Animaniacs.”

Scott

“There are so many great films to choose from, but I have to go with The Goonies, followed incredibly closely by Gremlins. There’s something about watching The Goonies and watching neighborhood friends go out on a crazy adventure that just brings back so many great memories of running around town with my friends as a kid. It’s a hugely nostalgic film for me and one that I can watch over and over again.”

Jackie

“I could not stop crying when I first saw E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial and he got sick, as I was really little. It still kind of upsets me. Ha!”

Dre

“I definitely liked Innerspace! Martin Short screaming, “I’m possessed!” made me and my brother laugh so hard we nearly peed our pants.”

Brigid

Who Framed Roger Rabbit

Emily

“So many good ones, how to choose! I love E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, but The Goonies has to take my vote. That movie made me want to be an adventurer when I was a kid, fighting pirates and exploring caves.”

Tyler

“This is a tough one, so many great classics! I loved The Goonies, Gremlins, Jurassic Park, and E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial. But I would have to with Back to the Future. I have watched that movie thousands of times and it never gets old for me. I still have the original VHS from when I was kid.”

It’s Valentine’s Day! I know, I know, it’s a “fake holiday” trumped up by greeting card companies and you shouldn’t feel forced to show someone affection just so some corporation can make money on manufactured crap, we should all show our loved ones that we care EVERY day, not just Valentine’s Day, blah blah blah.

Get over it. I mean it. Some or all of that sentiment might be true, but taking one day or evening out of 365 to tell your partner, family and/or dearest friends that you love them is nice, and you can do it with or without corporate tie-ins. In fact, I’ve got the perfect hook-up for all of our readers that might have been protesting the holiday, but were really slackers who forgot to make any reservations or plans for their Valentine this evening:

Dinner and a movie.

It’s a classic for a reason, and you can do the whole thing right at home. First, the dinner. If you’re a real hopeless case in the kitchen, then go for take-out or delivery, and just focus on setting a nice table–candles & flowers work just as well on coffee tables as they do in a dining room. If you can at least boil water, then you can make spaghetti. It’s cheap, easy, fast, and you & your partner can do that cute kissing thing from Lady & the Tramp with the noodles. Just go easy on the garlic and the portions–nothing’s less romantic than heartburn and breath that could slay a vampire.

Dessert is also key, and unless either you or your partner is allergic then you gotta go with chocolate. (If you are allergic: salted caramels. YUM.) If you don’t have time to make anything, I recommend a small box of high-quality, rich chocolate truffles (Trader Joe’s makes great ones). If you’re on a budget, forget the cheapo drugstore chocolates in the heart-shaped box and buy a box of brownie mix instead. They’re so easy to make, so yummy and gooey, and baking seriously impresses everyone.

As for picking a movie, well, it depends on your date. Here are my recommendations for a fun and romantic evening with your Valentine tonight.

Romantic Comedies That Aren’t Ridiculously Formulaic And Also Actually Funny: Raising Arizona, High Fidelity, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Definitely, Maybe, Going the Distance

"Marvin Gaye is responsible for our entire relationship." "Is that so? I'd like a word with him then."

Romances With Lots Of Guns: Bonnie & Clyde, True Lies, Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo & Juliet, A Life Less Ordinary, Natural Born Killers, True Romance, Mr. & Mrs. Smith

"That's the way romance is... Usually, that's the way it goes, but every once in awhile, it goes the other way too."

Co-dependent, Unhealthy, Enabling Romances: Sid & Nancy, Leaving Las Vegas, Trainspotting, The People vs. Larry Flynt

"If I asked you to kill me, would you?" "I don't know. How would I do it? I couldn't live without ya."

Movies That Aren’t Technically Romances, But Feature Great Couples: The Mask of Zorro, Lord of the Rings, Rocky, Pirates of the Caribbean, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Matrix, WALL-E, Fargo, The Empire Strikes Back

"I love you." "I know."

Classic Romances For Every Generation: Roman Holiday, The Philadelphia Story, Casablanca, Lover Come Back, Annie Hall, Some Kind of Wonderful, When Harry Met Sally, The Princess Bride, Singles

"I've never been alone with a man before, even with my dress on. With my dress off, it's MOST unusual."

Any movies you think are missing? Tell me all about it! Oh, and before I forget:

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!

It’s time to bid a fond farewell to 2010 and ring in the new year! While we’re definitely looking forward to what 2011 has to offer, we here at Click thought it would be the perfect time to look back on this past year’s amazing offering of cinematic goodness (and badness).

Below you’ll find our favorites, our least favorites, our most anticipated, and a variety of other movie lists. Enjoy and please let us know some of your favorite (and least favorite) movies from 2010 in the comments!

Mac

Hailee Steinfeld & Jeff Bridges in True Grit

“A lot of top best/worsts list share titles, from Inception, Kick-Ass & Toy Story 3 to Legion & When in Rome, so I went with rewatchability. Meaning something I can laugh and clap my hands at. Like a magician!”

Best Movie of the Year, Hands Down: True Grit

  1. The Book of Eli
  2. The Losers
  3. Hot Tub Time Machine
  4. Piranha 3D
  5. Easy A
  6. Waking Sleeping Beauty
  7. Red
  8. Machete
  9. The Crazies
  10. Rare Exports

Dinah

Emma Stone in Easy A

“I feel like I could have easily done a Top 10 or even Top 20 list of movies I really enjoyed this year. But if I have to narrow it down to just five, then I’m going to go with the ones that I talked about the most and/or simply can’t wait to watch again. And again.”

  1. Easy A – Hilarious teen comedy genius.
  2. Babies – Maybe because I’m having a baby, but I thought this film was lovely and I’ve been talking about it all year.
  3. Red – Fun fun fun fun fun.
  4. The King’s Speech – So well done and so enjoyable.
  5. True Grit – Love and perfection.

“As for bad movies, I’ll just say this: I am really forgiving. I mean it. I love movies and love watching them and will usually find SOME redeeming quality in a film that can justify the time spent watching it. These five, however, represent approximately 10 hours of my life I’d really like to have back so I can do something more enjoyable. Like my taxes.”

  1. Legion
  2. Edge of Darkness
  3. When in Rome
  4. Clash of the Titans
  5. Killers

"Banksy" in Exit Through the Gift Shop

Top 5 Favorite Films of 2010

  1. Exit Through the Gift Shop – Only subversive artist Banksy could turn a documentary that starts out about him into a film by him. This art documentary follows an eccentric LA-based French shopkeeper turned amateur filmmaker as he attempts to capture many of the world’s most infamous street artists on camera, only to have the British artist Banksy turn the camcorder back on him with wildly unexpected and often hilarious results.
  2. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest and Played with Fire – Exposing corporate espionage and solving sadistic crimes is just another day in the lives of middle-aged journalist Mikael Blomkvist and 20-something hacker Lisbeth Salander (the best crime-fighting duo since Batman and Robin!) in these dark Swedish suspense films based on the best-selling novels by Stieg Larsson.
  3. I Am Love – Tradition and passion are at war as the wealthy Recchi family navigates through changing times and fortunes in this elegant melodrama from Italian director Luca Guadagnino. At the center of the film is Emma Recchi , the Russian-born matriarch of a powerful industrial Milanese family, who embarks on a passionate love affair with a younger man. The film is a veritable feast of the senses from the lush landscapes of the Italian country side and rich interiors to the sumptuous meals and scenes heighted by John Adams’ jarring operatic compositions and Tilda Swinton’s Oscar-worthy performance.
  4. The King’s Speech – Colin Firth gives a masterful performance in the stylishly produced and rousing period drama as the stuttering King George VI who finds his voice thanks to an eccentric Australian speech therapist played by the always engaging Geoffrey Rush. Filled with moments of both anguish and humor, the film also features Helena Bonham Carter, Guy Pearce, Michael Gambon and more.
  5. The Social Network – Money, girls and greed before the age of 26 are the themes in this story about the founders of Facebook directed by David Fincher and written by Aaron Sorkin. Starring Jesse Eisenberg in a chilly performance as founder Mark Zuckerberg, the films also boasts one of the best taglines ever, “You don’t get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies.”

Dre

Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Inception

“Let’s please keep in mind that I certainly did not see EVERYTHING that released this year. Not even close. I saw a handful of films, and from the ones I saw, these are the ones that I liked the best. I know I have MANY more to see before the Oscars in February!”

Top 10 Movies of 2010

  1. Inception – Whoa. Like, whoa. Loved it. Saw it before all the hype spoiled it for me, and I watched with an eagle eye to make sure I didn’t miss any of the transitions between levels. Awesome. Joseph Gordon, call me.
  2. Black Swan – I think that, in general, men don’t understand this movie. Girls are mean, man, and they can get inside of each other’s heads. OCD never looked so hot on-screen.
  3. Kick-Ass – I’m pretty sure there isn’t anything more endearing to me than an 11 year old dropping the C-word on a bunch of thugs. Way to take the comic book/superhero movie and turn it on it’s ear. Hit Girl 4-evah!
  4. Iron Man 2 – Robert Downey. ScarJo. In contrast to #3, this was a more traditional, comic book/superhero movie. Beautiful people in sexy superhero suits- I love it! And I’m pretty sure I had 12 heart attacks during the movie, which proves that I liked it.
  5. Tangled – This film delivered FAR beyond expectations for me. I felt like I was watching a stage show with all of the incredible performances. Mandy Moore, you are back on my list, and I’ve forgotten all about that ‘Because I Said So’ fiasco from a few years ago.
  6. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Awkward half nekkid Ron & Hermione aside, I love seeing my favorite wizards and witches on the big screen, and I can’t wait for the FINAL final chapter!
  7. How to Train Your Dragon – I cried. I admit it. I love to root for an underdog, and I love non-canine animals that behave like dogs in movies- especially animated ones!
  8. Toy Story 3 – Those Pixar peeps know how to get to my heart strings. That Mr. Potato Head sequence had me and the 5 year olds surrounding me in the movie theater in stitches!
  9. Hot Tub Time Machine – Yep. Every year has to have a ridiculous comedy with an awesome ensemble cast. This was it. Pretty sure the big furry bear in the hot tub made my day. Well, that, and Chevy Chase.
  10. The Runaways – Ok, so I didn’t see a lot of films this year, but Dakota as Cherie with the Bowie make-up, on-stage at her school talent show was priceless. She can do no wrong for me. And finally, KStew’s crappy attitude and grouch-face was perfectly cast as badass Joan Jett.

Welcome to Click’s Trailer Park – Amanda’s bi-monthly discussion of some of the most exciting trailers to hit the Interwebs. Here are a few that have her pumped for the 2011!

  • Need some help exorcising the holidays? Check out The Rite.
  • The Beaver. Jodie Foster directs Mel Gibson and his puppet.
  • How about some popcorn movie fun? Single White Female for a new generation. Try The Roomate.
  • Red Riding Hood looks like a darker fairy tale that steers a little more adult than Twilight.
  • Saying you have HIGH hopes for Your Highness wouldn’t be too out of character.
  • Water for Elephants: The book is a modern classic, and who doesn’t like a melodramatic circus love story?
  • Who knows exactly what it will be about, but Tree of Life is undeniably gorgeous and directed by Terrence Malick so, chances are, it will be pretty spectacular.
